diamond ring

Found this nice ring at a local park. Approx 2 inches down so it must have been recently lost. The band does not have a 10, 14 or 18K marking. Only a IIO and RY marking. Found 4 wheat pennies too, between 1939-1946 . I'm surprised this park has anything left in the ground to find. There has got to be some silver out there still!

When the ground moves during the winter months, things that might have been out of reach one year, will be pushed around until they are within reach. Keep checking.....you might just find some silver there......

Silver is very easily cherry picked out, unless there is a lots of nails there were very good vlf detectors back in the 80s even, in the 90s a Sovereign combined with a DTI meter was the "King" of the pickers. Whites was not even close back then they just could not find stuff in iron very well in my experience. Probably the DD coil was a big advantage when combined with the Iron Mask feature also, when you had that sound along with the 1.80 reading you were in!! Whites did not feature a DD coil then. Now DD coils are common place.

Gold reads appreciably lower than silver and does not Halo out as much over the years. I have recovered rings for folks at two inches that were lost around two years ago but then again soil can be transported aka fill dirt. If it was brought in with fill dirt the depth thing is obviously not important. Also there is tilling, some people till their yards, this can be very bad for detecting also, but then sometimes silver will be an inch deep, given this any competent detector operator would certainly have depleted the silver count to zero except for some very deep coins.

It does look like it could be gold. Sometimes the markings wear off or are lost when the ring is sized. Check the inside with a magnifying glass or have it checked by a jeweler.
