This is a combination of last couple hunts...My favorite is the cufflink button..
I was hunting this 1740s house that i have went over a few times..Doesn't seem to hold any old coins, but i have pulled a few relics out..
I will let the pics do the talking..
Any help with some IDs would be great...
Also if anyone has a range of years for the buttons that would be great..
Thanks for looking.
George...Ps..The token is Grover Cleveland..Democrat canidate for president. .

Vino, your masonic cuff link dates from about 1790 to about 1815 give or take a few years. I dug a linked set with that pattern about a month ago. This pattern is also shown in Warren Tice's book "Dating Buttons". Here is a pic of my set and a pic of the page in the book.

They are a great addition to any colonial cuff link collection.

Thanks Jeff.
Thats real nice that you dug the whole set..

Know many brothers who would love to have that in their collection, Great find! The others are just icing on the cake.

I dont see any markings..Maybe under the crud..I pick it a little and see..
Thanks Dan..

That is the turret/dimple shank/attachment that I mentioned. OK next, take a close up of the rim of the front. What I need to see is if the rim is part of the back and the face folds in (false three piece) or if the rim is a true third piece (overlaps the face and back) such as a standard US Staff or NY State Seal. So far the back looks more like the false three piece which would place it to late 1800s. There is no backmark on either of these types.

Yup it is a two piece (false three piece) late 1800's button. NY Police and other Governmental officials as well as military groups wore them.

The pinfire is just fine. I have several, obviously you don't want to hit it with a hammer (though the brass would most likely just break off). No worries with it.
