It's been a while since I've been able to post some gold. I went back out to the spot where I've found 7 or 8 silvers, 4 Indians, a number of wheats and the KGII Farthing. Thought I would go a little slower than usual with the small coil this time. Not too many signals over the course of about 90 minutes (did manage a 1917 wheat), so I thought that I might head out and try a different spot. On the way, I got what initially occurred to me as a trash signal- a 4" deep target bouncing from 48 to 50 in all directions. Something told me that I should dig this one- can't explain why- but am I glad that I did! I got the target out of the hole and immediately noticed that it was orangish-gold in color and round. Could it be? A GOLD RING! My first in many months. Knowing that I couldn't possibly top it- I headed straight home. It cleaned up beautifully- stamped 10K with a big ruby- and in an art nouveau style- meaning it has to be at least 120 years old. And the icing on the cake? It fits my wife perfectly! Thanks for looking and happy hunting, all!

Very cool buddy! Does the lady carry your tree coin too? Lol
Yeah, Abe- we had it made into a coin ring! Small difference in value there between the two finds, don't you think?! Lol

Get the popcorn out sitting around waiting for the "News" on this lovely ring ! =) Even if its a cheap gem, finding anything gold is always hard to do ! Finding a ring with a nice looking stone is always a win times win in my book !! I'd would have a hard time passing this one on to my wife (if I had one) I think especially if the ring is like man sized at all, guess I will have to keep on dreaming about that here, honking big gold is very rare !! P.S. Hey Mi$terG just in case you didn't see my old gold ring =) heres a link: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/today-s-finds/430594-step-right-up-three-ring-circus.html
Thanks CRM. We're really happy about it. It's actually my third vintage gold ring find. Found one with garnets a few years back and had that fixed up too:

That is very beautiful - nice to know it is Ruby - even if it is "lab grown" it is composed of the same material (corundum) as a natural Ruby .
Thanks for your compliments and expertise, Argentium. I knew it had to be a gemstone as the edges of the stone were still sharp even after I dug it up. Thanks again and best of luck to you.

You are so welcome Mi$terG- Probably more like educated guesses rather than expertise for my part , I didn't realize that they could
create lab grown Ruby as early as the 1930's that's why I didn't guess Ruby - and I thought it too big to be a natural in a 10 K set.
That's what I love about this site - when a thread takes off with all kinds of back and forth, It's so interesting to see what theories
and ideas get put up .
