After about an hour of digging trash at a park, I was just about ready to hang it up for the day. I decided to go around an old oak tree set back in the woods. I found all the coins in a one foot circle and the ring about five feet away. The two nickels are also my first Indians and both dated 1927.

Guess where I'm going tomorrow?

Funny how we sometimes stay a little bit longer and hunt that one spot that pays off. I bet your glad you didn't leave too early. I always hunt around trees, especially if there old trees. Gongrats

I cannot even begin with the stories of "I was about to give up"
It does not always work/produce...
But like you just found out... it can. :)
Good job on your first.

4 silvers and a gold in one short hunt? Don't take this the wrong way, but I hate you. :laughing7:

That's a nice 18k gold ring. Looks like it has a little weight to it for a band. I'm guessing early 1900's.

nice 18k! good chance it dates to the same era as the mercs/buffs! Amazing that one dig can change the hunt from a bust to one of the best of the year. Congrats!

Good score on the gold and silver.....18k for your first gold is a great way to start.

I'd fan out from the general area of that tree....should be some more keepers in the area.

Regards + HH

Now that is a very memorable day of hunting. I love the mercs and that 18k ring isn't too shabby either. Way to go!!!
