Hi, guys! I'm a metal detecting newbie who is totally excited about the totally unexciting find I made in my backyard today. I wondered if any of you totally awesome people might know what it is. It was at the far end of my yard away from the house, back in the woods about 4" down. It's all woods behind my backyard.

It's some sort of 4" x 6" metal bracket ... with a rectangular plate that has slightly down-sloped edge on one of the 6" sides ... and it has a strap tack welded to it... with two wood screws at the ends of the strap.

Thanks for helping a newbie! :)

I have seen similar things that are on a ceiling that are spaced out holding up heavy water pipes that run a long distance.

Very likely candidate for a concrete edger. The screws once held a round wooden handle. The curved down side usually was used next to the concrete form. It would have been used to put an edge on a new sidewalk before the concrete set up.

Thank you so much K1DDO1979 and RJGMC! I looked up pictures of concrete edgers online and that's totally what it is!
