Hello everyone! I need your help!

If you recall, a friend of mine and I stumbled across a dump site about two years ago containing thousands of artifacts from the 1870's to the turn of the century. We have been excavating, organizing and identifying the artifacts for a very long time, and finally we've gotten around to cataloging our finds with photos!

We haven't even started the dozens of pounds of glass, ceramic and stoneware yet, but we've photographed the majority of the metal artifacts so far. And this is where we need your help. We have approximately 200 artifacts photographed and numbered. I have uploaded the photos to an album on Flickr for all of you to look through and help identify!

If you recognize any artifact or have any ideas, please reply with the artifact number (the four digit number in the photo.) Thank you!!!

0184 is the hook portion of a hat and coat hook.

0013 is from merchant L.M.Malany and Co. Malany started out as a partner in the firm of Summers,Morrison and Co. They were Commission merchants dealing in produce during the 1880s. Malany struck out on his own venture not long after this affiliation.

BTW you guys got a good dump site there, Now you are def hooked for life. And most importantly, GOOD JOB on your recording process.

Thank you! We've been trying to research Mr. Malany for quite some time now, with little luck. When we first unearthed that piece, it was completely crumpled and we had no idea it was anything beyond scrap. Thankfully Adam unfolded it and saw a few letters, so we didn't just relegate it to the pile of junk.

And thank you to everyone else for your input and replies! We appreciate it greatly! Adam and I will continue to reassemble and photograph our finds, so we'll continue to need your help in the future! Happy hunting! :occasion14:

Looks like most items one would find on a late19th early 20th century farm. I'd say your doing what my mother meant in telling me to go and find something constructive to do when I got bored. Why on earth did I ever buy video games for my kids :dontknow:... Looks like a load of fun.

Looks like a push button plate cover or buzzer cover but I don't see a place for screws.
Looks either Arts & Crafts or 1920's English Tudor. Amazing... Have fun!
