congrats! silver half dollars are a real treat!

One bit of advice is to try holding off on rubbing your silver coins. There's a big chance that rubbing dirt will cause small scratches that will permanently remain there. For common coins, which are worth silver value, it's not the end of the world. But if it turns out to be a scarce coin, the dollar value loss could be in the hundreds or thousands of dollars. Best way is to take it home and gently rinse it off with water, with being careful not to rub.
