Best capped dime I've ever seen

Did a 2 hour hunt this after noon in a field I know of.not alot of targets but we'll worth it an 1830 capped dime that I think is the small 10c looks like it may grade about ef40 or a au50. It's the first silver capped coin I ever got.only rubbed it lightly with my fingers to clean it when it first came out. Thanks for looking

Suit yourself on the "professional" cleaning / grading, but you'll spend half the coins value on doing so, and add to the fact that most coins sell in real life for 50-70% of the book value, what you'll wind up with is nothing.

Your original call of EF-AU was the right call, There is NO mint luster that coin will not grade into the mint state grades, Yes it is nice to hear others grade your coin higher, but that is not going to happen. It's an EF coin, but it is yours to do with as you wish, if you want to "give it away" in fees then feel free to do so.

Believe me, people who buy fairly serious coins do NOT need third party grading, As they can grade for themselves, or they should not be in the coin business as they too make mistakes. Don't believe me, ask Hooge, he's an american.

It is an EF coin, don't "waste" you money on any "opinion"
OK yes, that is my "opinion" but have been a serious collector for the most of my life. Yes I have some graded coins, but did not pay for any of those.

I have to agree with the title of your thread. The eye, lips, curls of the hair, every detail of the eagle, shield, banner and Lady Liberty are all in exceptional condition. One kept locked away in a collection would not be expected to be in better shape. I don't think I have seen a prettier dug coin.

That coin is INSANE. XF40-AU50 details for sure. Don't try to clean it, it looks beautiful as is - just soak it in distilled water to loosen up and dislodge the remaining dirt. What a find!
