Some stuff from a very old Maryland site. I didnt think much of this find at 1st but then remembered Robfinds post about something similar as I was researching it. Its been worked on one side to give it a design.

http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/today-s-finds/456142-hammered-full-set.html

Also, the XII weight marked 17 1/2 and has either CR or GR on it. A giant half dollar size cast button and what may be the end of a latten spoon???

Any info on any of these???

Oops this was supposed to go under what is it category. How do I change that?

The first photo looks like a carbide insert for a turning tool for a lathe to me.

Thanks for the reply. Cant say I disagree with that as far as the shape. lol. But the site hasnt produced anything new. Only 300-400 year old coins and relics. The item in question is copper/ bronze. The site is located on a river very near Chesapeake bay and is extremely remote.

Thanks. I think you're right about that. Just inspected what looks to be threads in the hole.

Any thoughts on the weight?

I think your conical piece may also be a scale weight?

I do too, from a bullion scale set. Would be nice to know if someone has seen this one so I can date it and find out what the markings mean. I guess its a 12 pennyweight.

Yes, its a British Coin Weight to weigh a Gold Unite (22 Shillings), looks to be a Charles I period (early 1600s).

Not sure 'bout that diamond thing Gary, but that's a really nice coin weight. Love finding those things - especially the early ones.

Wow, thanks CRU. Thats one of the oldest things I have found then. That makes 2 coin weights from this site, both for gold coins. As a relic man, I'm real pleased with it.
