Well I wandered another wagon trail for two hours tonight and found yet another Victoria fishscale. I like that the hole is in it, makes it seem older haha. It was my only coin dug tonight, and I don't mind. Oh Yeah ! I'm crazy for a Vicky silver ! I too like the hole - I'd probably put a silver ring and chain on it and give it to my gal pal !

Haha, when I showed it to my "gal pal" she said "that's nice dear".

It's crazy, I dug three Vicky coins in my first five years of detecting, but in only the last six weeks I have dug five more...

Nice digs. A hole in a coin makes it more personal I think.

I won't go so far as to say I preferr holed coins, but my 3 cent US piece has a hole, and it doesn't bother me.
I will say if you're only going to dig one coin in a hunt, that that is a LOT better than a modern penny !
BTW my yesterday's digs had not a single coin. (tear) haha

You found a U.S. 3cent?! Man I'd love to dig one of those, they must be so damn small.

I thought I was getting skunked, I found this fishy in the last few minutes of sunlight.

I think the fact that a coin has been holed makes it a much more personal find!

I've only found one 'holed' coin in four years of detecting... an 1861 NS One Cent.

I agree! I was actually happy to see the hole in the coin. I know it is considered damage, but you're right it makes it more personal. Someone really didn't want to lose that little coin.
