I went on a nice hunt today, the first target huge dandy button. I got a weird nail signal, every now and then a higher number would interrupt iron. I dig I see a huge brass button in the hole, right next to it is a big nail. Next find was a musket ball. Later I found a nice pewter button. I decided to dry a muddy area next to a stream, considering how dry it has been it was easier to metal detect. I got a nice zinc signal on my metal detector, I was thinking musket ball. Next thing I know a "button" pops out of the whole. I am looking at the design when I notice that the back it perfectly flat with now evidence a shank was ever there. No less than two feet away I got a lower tone, that turned out to be a colonial tombac button. Another two feet in the other direction I found a chunk of iron. I shortly left with a feeling of satisfaction.

The coin looks to be either a counterstamped copper or coin weight, any help??? It is very thin, if coin weight could it mean, "two in a halfpenny" it seems like it weighs roughly the same as half a halfpenny

I also found a bracket, a mystery huge piece of iron, a couple shotgun shells, a .22 casing, and a broken brass (horse?) buckle.

Nice finds there Coinman. I'm leaning toward counterstamped copper.

I would love to see the 6 coin you have, got any photos? It would been cooler if you found one with an 8 on each side, talk about lucky coin :)

Thanks, I have pounded this place hard since June of last year but it shows little sign if dying out. If I can not find a good new place to search I just drive 15 minutes to my trusty site. That site is huge though, I have not even seen the farthest reaches of this site yet.

Coins, lead and buttons...my 3 favorite things! You have yourself a very good site there. The font of that "2" looks very old.
