cakija.jpg cakija 1.jpg cakija 2.jpg cakija 3.jpg

was found in the Sava River in the northern part of the Republic of Serbska ex bosnia and herzegovina.
What is interesting in this is that the dagger is very old but is not covered with rust and handle is apparently made of gold,
on the handle is shown lion or a wolf on the back of a bull with big horns
Does anyone know anything about this kind of dagger
Today I add two pictures of Egyptian knives, to see and hear your opinions 455c5c050214f92a9e8724378af988ae.jpg a43adb0a32d504386d7a17a6abc33952.jpg 11666142_899171386796214_2592129767793667659_n.jpg 11692658_899170296796323_5072394718800880076_n.jpg 11701205_899172556796097_8116435283125844266_n.jpg 11703094_899172930129393_1483408268104951753_n.jpg 11709836_899169916796361_740715160562580531_n.jpg

Wow! It does look like a solid gold handle! Must have belonged to someone very rich!
Sava River is fresh water and the knife was probably encased in the oxygen-starved mud or silt on the bottom. Steel and iron can survive for many decades without corroding if they're kept in this sort of environment!
Amazing save!

Could also be a letter opener. I've seen some with similar shape. Is there any way that the blade could be silver?
If a magnet sticks to it, it is not silver. (But still possibly plated) Good luck.
Very nice piece.

Greetings and welcome to T-net. You came and brought us treasure. We have a section here that is very good with I.D. The " What is it forum" if you would like to get an I.d you might post it there or ask a Mod to move it for you.
Love long blades and yours is worth a lot.
Welcome.

no, not silver, blade is made of steel, strong quality steel because it is not rusted and looks like it was forged a few days ago :hello:

Not great pictures, but I would guess repro, still looks interesting, & needs further research incase I'm wrong.

If in fact it is genuine and because it shows no rust or degradation from being in the water, I have the following theory! If there have been recent floods on the Sava River, I would think that it is possible that a Cache of treasures and precious items washed out during a flood or could even be from a Burial Site of someone of importance that was washed out by floods. If it in fact turns out to be genuine, you should go back an search as much of the river upstream and downstream from where you made the find. If possible search deeper center-river spots but I would bet that if there are more treasures to be found, they may be closer to the river's banks and possibly even on the banks themselves.

If indeed it is an Ancient, or Medieval piece the fact that the blade appears pristine would strongly suggest that it only recently
found it's way into the Sava River location - I think if you can contact someone who is an expert in antique weapons in your
part of the world you at least can answer the questions pertaining to authenticity/reproduction. Great Find !

Yes, this is a snapshot of a very poor phone camera, and as for further research, I am not able to do it, I live in Republic of Serbska ex Bosnia and Hercegovina
I'll try to take a picture with a higher quality camera
