Perfect combo of weather again, rained Sunday & we got out for 6 hours on Monday (Yesterday).

I was reminded of Romeo's recent post when I dug a mid-20th C Silver right in the middle of the Roman Site. I stated to Dad, that maybe I will have 'A Tale of 2 Silvers' & with in about forty minutes I did get an early Roman Silver. Dad adds 'didn't you just say that' - 'yes' I say. Problem was I then went on to get a Will III Love Token (Sixpence)....oh well it was a good story....

27 Roman Bronze Coins - Beats our Best Day again this year.
4 Good Album Coins
The Silver although very worn is of the earliest Emporer that we tend to find:
Vespasian AD69 - Here is a link to a better picture, its actually tells of a famous historial event, the sacking of Jerusalem:
Vespasian AR Denarius. 69-70 AD. IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG, laureate head right / Captive Jewess seated right, hands tied before, trophy of captured arms behind, IVDAEA in ex. RSC 226. * Sear RCV 2296 * WildWinds.com

Ah Vespasian, made famous for his obsession with confiscating the public's urine.
Some public urinals in France still bear his name. :D

Man after that hunt I would have been celebrating with a few pints and been cranking the following song which would have been playing in my head while in the field:

Another great hunt for Roman coins for you and your dad yesterday Cru! :occasion14:
Congrats on all the silvers, especially the silver Vespasian AD69!

What I really like is that 'holed' coin/token in your first pic, any idea what it might be? :icon_scratch:

Best to you and your Dad,
Dave

That's great Cru. That's an early silver coin there and the story behind the emperor is quite fascinating.

Thanks for sharing your hunt

Another nice batch of bronzes recovered there  Are you using Renaissance wax on your album / keeper coins ?
Got my fingers crossed for a couple of denarii this season just hope the farmers can get out there and crack on with the harvest soon if the weather plays ball.
George..
