Went to a couple different spots today . One was a hay field next to a foundation hole that was occupied in the mid 1800s. Then on the way home stopped at a park and dug some clad and a new metal detecting mascot I will call Rocco . He is wearing his first piece of the treasure chest . A .925 girls heart ring . Included in the two digs are a 18?? LC , a toasted IH penny , a 189? V nickel , and my first ever tax token . Issued by the state of Mississippi . How in the world it ever got in the middle of a hay field in upstate ny ill never know . A huge pocket knife , odd decorative scroll pieces made of copper and brass .$ 1.30 in clad and some other odds and ends . Man is that fertilizer hard on coins .

1891 V-nick, and I'd guess the LC to be 1843 or 1853 judging by the neck line of liberty. To me it looks like 1843. Congrats bud and the rest of them finds are pretty awesome too!

Great hunt. You wonder how that tax token made its way to you ? That's the fun & mystery of our hobby. I once found a tax token from the state of Alabama up here in Northern Illinois, & wondered the same thing. What are you doing up here ?

You will.
Keep digging "trash" and the V Nick' will appear. Keep digging clad dimes, pennies & quarters and the LC will appear.
