Is this the 21st meteorite to be discovered in the UK?

Hi all,

My name is Emma Swan and I have found something which I believe to be not from this earth, but from somewhere else. I have had this object for 5 days now and am going insane wanting to know what it is! All my research suggests it to be a meteorite. I cannot prove it to not be a meteorite!

It is really heavy.
Looks like rock and like metal.
Is very magnetic. Earth metal magnet much stronger than standard fridge magnet.
Has a few green spots and crystals.
1-2mm black, yet silver crust.
Pic 7 the holes had crystals in them.

I hammered a bit off (was really tough) and have sanded with a nail, there are patterns.

The natural History museum in London is yet to appoint a meteorite expert so I will have to wait one month to even get the ball rolling. I have included some pics and am keen to find out any feedback. Meteor or meteor wrong?

Best regards

Emma

Three White's, one Fisher and a Minelab.....I'm beginning to wonder if I am a metal detectorist .....or a collector of metal detectors?

I am no expert but I would think the same way as you. Check around for some local fossil gem dealers they might know.

Hi all thanks for your interest. The rock does appear to look more like slag than magnetite. But the closest material I can match it too is Angrite

Bing Images

Magnetite sure does look pretty.

I have no meteorite experience, but it does look different to most I have seen & would be a large specimen. Chances are its from this earth & a good Geologist can tell you that.
