I discovered the former site of a small stage stop / hotel on a mountain pass that was built in 1885 and demolished in 1937. BLM owns most of the property now but there's some public land nearby that has been mostly undisturbed. I hit it this morning and was surprised to find something directly connected to the hotel! The back of the drink token has the name of the hotel and the mfr. of the token (Moise S.F.). It rang 12-45 on the Etrac and I was sure it was going to be a quarter. Turns out it's aluminum! There's very little info about this hotel and even less memorabilia out there so I'm pretty happy with the find.

Oh yeah, I also found 3 wheats ('46, '52 & '55) and nice 1914 Barber dime, which happens to be my oldest dime ever. Super exciting too but, considering the amount of research I did to find the hotel site, the nod has to go to the token.

Thanks for looking and good luck out there!

I'm with you. The Barber is a nice coin, but I will always give the nod to a saloon token.

Nice finds! I presume you don't want to give away your location by showing the obverse of the token. Is it shown on tokencatalog.com? If not I'd encourage you to post it there.

I'm a token guy, and seeing one looking like that and not totally toasted being made of aluminum almost made me cry.
My latest aluminum is the size of a nickel, and a good 80% nonexistent.
Eventually I hope you'll post the front, but understand why you don't.
Maybe you can block out the address.
God, I'm such a voyeur when it comes to tokens!
Kudos!
Carl
