It was a nice day to be out digging here yesterday. As luck would have it, I got a call from a home owner needing some help with a few things around the house. I hunted around this place a couple of times last year and had found over 25 CW bullets and some nice old coins. I got my work done by lunch and had about 3 hours to hunt around some. Things started right where I left off with a nice musket ball and up next was one of those huge .69 caliber Minie Balls. I took my time hunting in TTF and sniffed out some nice lead and coins. I've searched the big front yard pretty well and I'm hoping the other parts of the property is holding some nice keepers. HH & GL David.

Nice stuff

I love finding those three ringers. We have a arsenal here in my city that goes back prior to 1812 and you used to be able to find hundreds of them. Nowadays your lucky you can find one at this site now.

Yeah it's always fun to find old lead. I never get tired of seeing one in the hole.

Thanks. Not sure if it was a picket post. I've found several places in this area where it seems the soldiers stood to reset their rifles. Lots of pulled bullets and drops. Some looked to be fired straight onto the ground. But not much brass to be found.

Oh and the Pontiac token is a GM advertisement token talking about being chief of the six cylinders. Probably from to 50's-60's I have found others like it.

Jeremy, You forgot to mention that the arsenal (Allegheny Arsenal) blew up the same day as the battle of Antietam in 1862 and bullets were scattered far and wide!

Thanks. Yeah they normally come out with that great white patina on them around here. But we have some of that clay this way too that leaves them stained.
