Hi guys.

I got back where i found the Phallus cause i was sure i missed something there.
I love the 75 on my garrett's screen.
I found these coins and three of them where new to me, even without cleaning them.



Then i cleaned them just enough to undestand what they are and....Boooom baby

My first (good looking) Roman coins.
I don't know them at all so i'm waiting for your help.

Dads thoughts:

From What I can make out they are as follows:

Coin 1 is an Reverse: FEL TEMP REPARATIO– Phoenix onPyre type AD 348-349 Denom: ½ Centionalis
Obverse: Looks like a CONSTANSin which case should be DN CONSTAN – S PF AVG
Reference: Like Sears 18708

Coin 2 is likely one of the VALENTINIAN Familytype and reverse may be a Victory Left SECVRITAS REIPVBLICAE
So age would be Ad 364-378

Coin 3 may be a Countermarked AS. Acountermark of SE is recorded but its meaning is unknown. A countermark of S
was used probably to downgrade an AS to a SEMIS due to loss in weight etc. Interms of Size an AS or
DUPONDISwill be 22-28mm whilst a SESTERTIUS will be 28-32mm although there arelarger too.

There also look like 2 other Roman Coinsin the other set. They seem to be the C3rd Squarish SESTERTIUS types typically
Found for Valerian and Gallienus of AD 253-260. C3rd SESTERTIUS weremanufactured from squarish flans
rather than the C1st & C2nd roundish flan types.
One coin has I think a DV countermark which downgraded a SESTERTIUS to aDUPONDIS and was used in
The MOESIA region up to the C3rdcentury. The other seems to have MLNS but I can find no reference to
such a countermark use.

Thanks for posting Im here in Michigan freezing I have chissled out some coins broke my digging tool I love seing old coins like that I would love just one of those My turn is coming I don't think we have the kind of history you do. I see people post from England same kinds of finds Great stuff I detect through posts like yours until winter goes away

I found a better one on int after your description.



For the second I'm a little confused cause the Valentinian coins that i found on internet have a man not a lady!

I worked out the third one. It is a Sesino di Parma, so it is a newer one even it look s like the oldest



I haven't worked out the pile cause they are very damaged but i think they are 1700 stuff.

I have one simple question [emoji12]. Do you think there are more coins there? I have found only tiny coins and as usual near the surface. It looks like no body have been there with a detector. Is it possible that other coins are waiting deeper?

On the second coin I can see why you're confused. I just cut & pasted dads email. Looking at it myself I can see the reverse is 'Soldier Spearing Fallen Horseman'.
