Congrats on your oldest silver. Sometimes I think those pioneers had nothing better to do than sit around & make holes in coins & shoot them. There has been a tremendous amount of holed & bullet hit coins on the forum in the last 6 months. Yes, sadly enough I have found a few myself.

Looks like that hole was carved out with a knife, quite possibly done by one of those mischievous cowboys of the old west
1882 same year Jesse James was shot dead.
