This morning I went back to the 1950 house site where I found the silver ring to finish up grid searching the front yard. Most of my finds were copper pennies except for a couple of wheat pennies. That's not a good sign.

I went to the backyard to see if I could do any better. I normally do better in the front yards than I do the back yards. This time I got on a trail of wheat pennies. I figured sooner or later I'd find a silver coin. It was later. I found a dozen wheat pennies before I finally popped a 1942 Mercury dime.

This was my 57th hunt for the year and my silver coin total for the year now stands at 167. All done without getting skunked on a single hunt.

That is a very pretty 42 dime.

When you grid, did you do like a 20 by 20 and go at it northsouth, eastwest?
Are you digging everything above iron that has a good multi directional tone ?

How long were you at it today?
