I am convinced all good rings in parks are to be had in triangle shaped sections of grass. Today marked my ninth precious metals ring (two gold, 7 silver) since starting metal detecting in February. Every single ring has been found where a sidewalk when standing in the middle, goes off in three directions.

Three rings I found in this section that has been pinned. Two other rings in the other triangle in the pic. All within 3 feet of the sidewalk.

So I've made it habit to grid the triangles when I first come to a park. And it proved right. I found a sterling silver ring.

This one is marked Sterling and rang up as a 87-88 on the AT Pro. It was one inch down. This was was not at the park above. The park I was in was made around 1880. I was sure there was going to be a silver coin but this ring popped up. Doesn't matter! I'll take it!!

Thanks for looking!

Good find! I can see the scenario. People standing on the sidewalk talking and gesturing with their hands, and the ring flies off.
Smart. Very smart. :icon_thumright:

Good going on the sterling ring.....high activity areas at any site give you the best odds of finding keepers.

Congratulations on the silver. Kudos for recognising a pattern. It is similar to what I noticed about two tracks in the woods. Most of my finds are in the center hump.

H101, congrats on a nice chunker sterling ring! You are figuring it out, i.e., being a student of human nature and noticing where and what people do in parks, playgrounds, etc...will tell you where to hunt. Don't forget to skirt both sides of the entire walkway, and make a secondary pass another "swing width" out from the paved path. People walking dogs step off the path, throw balls for their dogs, run on the grass next to the path, etc... This tactic has filled my ring display every month for a couple of years! Sub 8-)
