Despite the heat I had a rare evening free, so I went. I searched out the supposed location of a riverside house foundation, and I found it....

Find included an 1835 Matron head, 19th C. Garder buckle and crotal bell, broken bell, pewter spoon handle and pieces, a couple D-buckles, and 18th C. Flat buttons. Iron finds are rose head and cut nails, and an 1/2 ox shoe

I couldn't find info on any comb being made with a brass spine and iron bristles, but I haven't any other idea. Suggestions?

The brush was horrific, so fall and winter should help.

Enjoy Steve

Nice finds Scrappy. Your metal comb when hole, could have been a comb for a horses mane. They used to use metal combs before the brushes came along. Just a thought, as I have found a few on farms over the years.
I agree with the above ID too. I think they were called curry combs. Glad you were able to get out in the heat. The heat is about to break for a few days here in upstate NY so I'm hoping to get a hunt in this weekend. Keep at it bro.

It's a sweet bell right? My better half liked it which doesn't happen often. Winter will be a good time, but I really have my sites set on October bud.

Mine likes the locks and keys... and everything else I find is considered junk. Ha. I don't find bells often, but I imagine she would like those too. October will be awesome no doubt.

Thanks for the X2 ID - it makes a lot of sense. And yeah man, this heat is killer. It's going to break down in NJ but we're also supposed to get wicked bad rains too. Good luck back at ya - I hope to see a post from you brother!

I don't know about hardcore, more desperate. Haven't had much detecting time lately before yesterday.

Yesterday my wife literally hosed me down in the yard when I got home. Like a dog but she didn't say cute things to me like someone would to a dog. Just "you stink" and "you're filthy".

At least she's still talking to you.........:laughing7:
Wonderful finds, Scrappy........doing your research sure paid off on this hunt. Good luck on the rest of the property!!

time to hitch a brush hog to your Smart Car & clear a path to swing. found 3 brass horse brushes, they could double for a fish scaler. too bad pot heads don't switch to smokin' real weeds so we could swing more gooder-------I tell ya'----it's a jungle out there & hotter than the babes on the Weather Channel telling us how hot it is---it's so hot ya' can't get a snake to slither in the grass :--)

Glad you're still able to get out and find some goodies Steve. Even if I had a place to go it would be suicide with the heat index here yesterday in the 115-120F range.

Thx. The deus is working, but I wonder how much I'm missing. It must be a lot. I usually start by learning a new detector in a park - with the deus I jumped right into colonial. Good thing none of my buddies were with me so scoop up what I missed. We all know how painful that is;)

Haha, yep, barely squeaked that hunt in. Any hotter and I would have called it. I think the index here was 100-105. Any hotter and it would have been suicide like you said

You certainly made the rare hunting time pay off Steve. Congrats on the LC. :occasion14: Hope you can get back there soon. Which detector were you using?

Deus. CTX is in the hospital. I'm still completely confused but never-the-less still finding great stuff. It's hard to imagine what the deus can do in capable hands! Lol
