Went out for a quick 45 minute hunt before supper and dug this WWI General service hat badge and scalped Lincoln. I was looking for silver, but I'm way happier with this cool relic.
Why do short hunts always seem to be the best?

Very ornate and attractive badge, I admire it much more than the 2 Missouri chauffeur cap badges I found this year.

J, that beats the hell outta a silver coin every day of the week! I'd rather have that than the ring I found today. How deep was it?

Thanks. And chauffeur badges are pretty cool, I haven't found one yet.

Thanks, it was only four or five inches deep and was a really nice low 90's on the Deus. I found it out on my golf course that is criss crossed with old pioneer/early 1900's wagon tracks. It was in a depression that I think used to be an old sand trap. It's covered in grass now, but the soil was very sandy and not like the rest of the area.

Thats a great looking hat badge, and I would have taken it over silver also. Relics are very nice finds. Looks like a lawn mower blade tried to give Abe a haircut.
