It's 11:17 pm est so it's still Christmas Eve. Went to a VERY hunted out site I have been to many times before and had a blast. Found some uprooted trees, which had relics all around the roots. It has rained so I will not admit to falling flat on my face in the slick mud, no, would NEVER do that. Pickins' here are kind of slim but I dug a really special relic people ALMOST NEVER dig. A Civil War comb! It did not sound off on the detector, I eyeballed after it came out of the hole. 3 ringers, a tent grommet, very nice large "S" hook for holding up a kettle, a few cut bottle neck pieces, an almost complete sardine can, some feather edge Leeds ware and other pottery and what I believe is a Confederate home made buckle. Jury still out on that, I have been home long enough to realize everything hurts, so haven't cleaned it up yet. BTW, if it IS a plate, that's my FIFTH in 2016. Jury will weigh in next week. I just can't tell yet. Merry Christmas. IMG_1369.JPG IMG_1371.JPG IMG_1372.JPG IMG_1370.JPG

Yes, that was a common type back then, they are still made. They used to call them "nit" combs if I remember. My grandmother had a modern one.
