This Find is found memories:
I was telling a friend this morning about some of the coins and other things I have been finding. He said he had a silver penny and wanted to have it looked at by a coin person. LOL Anyway he had a photo on his phone and I could see it was a 1943 Steel Penny. He still thinks its silver so what ever.... Anyway I started thinking back and I remembered a small box in some things of my Dads belongings. He died 2 years ago this May from Alzheimer's. He used to tell me about coins he had from the times around WWII and we would lay them out on the table and study them. Well I found them tonight and it brought back some great memories that my Dad put in my heart. So I think he would want me to share them with like minded good folk like you. So here they are. A token, 2 copper Wheaties, 6 Steel Wheaties and 1 Uncirculated Steel. Notice that one of the Wheaties is from 1909! And the token is from the power company in these parts. I'm not sure but I think it was for a ride on one of Charlottes electric Trolley Cars way back. Enjoy and comment please.

I lost my dad 40 years ago, and like you, I pull out his old coin collection from time to time and reflect back on wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing!

I lost my father 24 years ago when he was the young age of 55. It's so great to have something to help relive the memories and moments.

Your uncirc steel also brought back memories for me. When I was little we'd stay with my great grandmother while on vacation. My younger brother and I had free rein to root through anything and everything in her attic. I'll never forget finding a mint steel in one of her old purses. I had never before seen a bright shiny silver colored penny! Thanks for reviving that memory!

As a kid I used to sit on the edge of the with my grandmother and look at her coin collection. That was at least 50 years ago. Lost my dad 7 years ago. While we didn't look at coins together this thread still gave me a rush of memories. Thanks.

My father just turned 81, he has Alzheimer's, still stage 1. He is not much on coins or metal detecting, our memories are of fishing together and we talk about them together still.

I lost my dad 16 months ago. Its good that something you enjoy has a tie to your father. There is nothing better than memories.

We enjoyed Fishing also, Here is a photo of my Dad about 3 months before he passed. And the Fish were from 5 years before. It all happens so fast. Memories are forever.

Great story and it's also nice to be able to go and "find" these coins and memories again whenever you need to.

My grandfather is 81 and has always told me about when he was working at a store when he was young and saved his money and bought steel wheat Penny rolls that were not circulated, I guess he has quite a few, I've never seen them but I know they will be mine someday.

Nice post Roger..... Made me think back 60 years ago when my dad used to take me for haircuts. A buzz with a little spikey part up front. We would put some butch wax on it and make it stand up. The barber would always let me go thru his cash register to look for coins I needed for my Whitman Coin Books. My dad got me coin collecting back then and would always pay the barber for coins that I found in his register.

I'm going to share my collections with my son....

Great Stuff Thanks
