Sunday morning dawned clear and cool. I was tired after the success of Saturday, but excited about the prospects of finding more silver coins, so off I went to meet Smittyman around 9:00AM.

Here is a pic of the 94 coins dug, as well as some of the trash. If you only dig the "good" signals, you are missing keepers. Half the secret is being fast & efficient.

IMG_20170219_154732_145-1.jpg IMG_20170219_155818_471-1.jpg

Now off to the good stuff. I hit a few Wheaties, then this worn 1920 Merc appeared.

IMG_20170219_105651_443-1.jpg

Shortly there after, another Merc!

IMG_20170219_114145_645-1.jpg

A poorly pinpointed Rosie is seen stuck in the sidewall of this hole. Oops.

IMG_20170219_113403_464.jpg

As lunch time arrived, I checked my pouch, and this is what I saw... 5 silver coins. NICE.

IMG_20170219_122409_762-1.jpg

After lunch, I switched the Deus from .900 (coin silver) to .925 (Sterling), and headed off to find something shiny, other than coins. It was not long until I got a "beer can" signal... however, it was not a can, it was fork! However, NOT like the forks I usually find.

IMG_20170219_131946_027.jpg

It was a Westmorland Sterling fork! 47 grams of silver. The largest piece of silver I have ever found!

IMG_20170219_131940_544-1.jpg

I trudged ahead, pouch heavy with spoils. A scratchy signal produced this flowery Sterling ring next.

IMG_20170219_142408_757.jpg

It was quite a day, one of the best that I have ever had. Here is a pic of the silver items from Sunday.

IMG_20170219_160655_395-1.jpg

Thanks for looking, and best of luck on your hunts!

PS: Not sure how those pics got down there, apparently, I outsmarted myself again!

Smittyman found silver this weekend. I will leave it at that. The other boys get mad at me, and say that I gloat and mock them... which we both know aint true. I took them to the spot, and turned them loose, that's all I can do.

Lol. No, you'd never gloat buddy! So you released them like a herd of cats? Lol. In my mind I could just see them all go.

Two years ago I had a weekend that started with 5 silver dimes and a sterling ring and I followed it up on Sunday with four more silver dimes which made for one of my best silver weekends since the late 80's. I didn't get no 47 gram sterling flatware....
Grats to ya, Tom, and thanks for taking the time to share.

Thanks XR7. I have found more silver coins in one day (Best ever: 11), but this weekend was certainly exceptional. I got 9 silver coins in 2 days... plus the ring and fork. As soon as I saw the whitish color of the fork, I knew it was silver... I was just looking at it shaking my head with my mouth hanging open!

The property owner was really cool, so we will attack the place again at 8:00AM next Saturday morning. P@tch was out of town last weekend. I owe him a hunt or twelve, so I'll make sure he gets some quality time on this site.

Best of luck to you sir!
