Thanks for the tips. NOO and GW is right. I think you nailed it nhbenz. Thanks for the info. I found it right off the old railroad in Morgan City La, so that makes sense.

The lock plate does look like an Enfield, but the bolster (where the main spring butts up to) is different from the few that I have seen.... Can you post a pic of the other side so we can look at the positions of the screw holes?

I couldn't find a photo with a bolster like that either. Hope its still a lock plate. I'll post another picture when it's all cleaned up. Some of the screw holes are hard to see because they are still plugged with corrosion or old screw pieces.
