Stopped on the way home from work yesterday to a small stone walled pen behind a building in the woods I have permission at.spent about an hour in it.not a ton of signals but managed a wheatie,a shankless button,a ornate brass tube that was packed with dirt.when cleaning in the sink a porcelin button came out of it.and finally a German WWII Hitler youth knife scabbard.A couple guys who know WWII relics confirmed that is what this is. a short hunt last week produced a KGII copper,a knee buckle and shoe buckle frame

Nice little one hour hunt Dave. I've gotta start checking into those types of sites up here in VT. There's a gas station up the road with a half obliterated cellar/rock wall complex right by it I've always been curious about. It's crazy how many of those sites are still around, some in obvious locations.

Cool find Dave. What led you to believe it was a hitler youth scabbard as opposed to any other scabbard? I don't know anything about them so I'm curious what gave you your initial hunch.

What's the length on that scabbard? The HJ knife had a 120mm blade, yours looks a bit short in the pic which makes me wonder if it's not for the "Bund Deutscher Mädel" which was the girls version of the HJ, that knife was a bit smaller. I can't find any specifics on it right off, and it seems there are some collectors who don't really believe in them, but if also seems they may be a bit more rare.....

The exact same scabbard has been used for years after the war for German Boy Scout knives, impossible to tell one from the other, the knives and scabbards were made by the same companies. Many post war HJ knives out there with the same scabbards also.
