Yankee Fire Extinguisher Plaque
Was digging around an old pumping station today and came across this plaque.
No sign of the extinguisher unfortunately. All I found was a chip of red paint. Luckily though all the text was legible. US patent no 2116319 was filed on Mar 17, 1934 and an image of diagram of the extinguisher can be found here:
An April 1950 issue of Motor Boating announced the extinguisher as a new product being added to Yankee Metal Products Corp's lineup. Around this time they were also making turn signals, headlights, mirrors, etc. for the military and some civilian vehicles.
Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc. was the predecessor to UL LLC, a safety consulting and certification company which is still around to this day.
Hope someone found all that history interesting. I haven't actually found a picture of any surviving fire extinguishers made by Yankee as of yet.
