I got out to a site after work today. My research pointed me to the exact area, but once I arrived there was no sign of a home...none.

I bounced around for an hour doing a sector searches, which ended up bringing me in an unexpected direction. Long story short, I think I found the site, but only had a 1/2 hour to search the area before I had to leave...but I have a few goodies to show.

I found a great watch winder. I was divided between a barrel tap key and a winder, but it was just too small to be a tap key.

Some buttons including an interesting iron/brass type.

I found a great example of a Ferdinand 1/2 reale. I've never found a Ferdinand VII before, so it was great adding this to the collection. It is my latest Spanish silver and a silver "gap filler". Now my silver gap only spans 21 yeas (1800 - 1821). In addition it's also the last year of Spanish currency from Mexico City. If you want a good read, the war of Mexican independence is a good one.

The tarnish is the type lemon juice can't remove, so I went to work with the baking soda technique. I think it came out great.

Last weekend I had a great hunt with a great group of friends. I missed most of Saturday, but Sunday I took the fellas to NJ. But before all that we had an excellent EastCoastHunter BBQ

Here are my finds from then....

And a lead button. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1492825252.114877.jpg

Also found a silver bracelet that has the initials of my detecting posse - Basstards Of Bramble. Or it could just be from a guy named Bob.

Enjoy, and good hunts everyone. Work your arse off and it'll pay off.

Best always

Steve

Congrats. You found some nice oldies for only being there a half-hour. The silver cleaned up nice. Will be interesting to see what else comes out of there with more time.

Thanks. Yesterday I was there for 2 hours but spent 3/4 of it hunting for the site. Unfortunately this half of the season is coming to an end. The bramble is getting awful thick already, so it'll probably fall before I return.

Congrats on the Spanish and other nice finds.

I will refrain from going on and on about how much fun I had last week.

Best of luck to you in the field sir!

Outstanding Finds , you gotta be really happy with that !

I've been wanting a Ferdinand VII silver for a while now. And I couldn't have done better with the date as well. Thanks for looking

Great looking real. You're still tapped into the good stuff!

Very few buttons I've even seen had an iron applied face, and they weren't from that period, nor looked anything like that one. I think something probably rusted over top of it. You should take some needle nose pliers and slowly pinch away the rust.

Thanks J. It's always a bit of a head scratcher to clean old silver. Practicing on modern silver helped me tremendously. This one came out great, thankfully;) cheers bud
