That's cool. I just found one a month ago doing spring coin cleanup at a school playground, and another in a Coinstar a few months back. I think that some have remained in circulation because they aren't that easy to spot in change.

It was in there about 3 days and I kept starting at it wondering what was WRONG with it. Note to self: Put on glasses.

most people never look twice at their change, see, your mind sub-consciously told it was important. wish mine would do that:laughing9:

I always check my change and sometimes I keep an eye on the cash register drawer when I receive change thinking I may see something in there that would be worth asking for. As far as Coinstar the last finds were before we left Arizona to come to Pa for the summer and that wasn't much. A one Phennig German coin and a clad dime.

Nice find, Smokey...I have a habit of closely inspecting my change...and the cashiers always ask..."did I not give you the right change?"...ha...Ddf

I used to be able to go by sound, but some of the newer stuff almost sounds "silvery". However, the sound does let me know when my local Dunkin Donuts has halfs and Ike dollars in the tray.

Last time I got a silver in my change was in 2012, a 1964d silver quarter. That year was the year I got back into coins, so I went through my change box and found a 1964 dime. Nothing in change since. I have found some in rolls, Coinstar machines and had some saved by tellers since though.
