I wasn't out for some weeks because of all fields planted. This week a farmer mowed down a hayfield and plowed it for seeding corn. This morning he rolled the anklebreaker flat and i had a couple hours for detecting. Tomorrow the seed will be in.
It's not a special field, just laying in the middle of an agricultural area used since the day when hunter-gatherers become farmer. I was impressed with the unexpected finds in this field.

Find of the day is without doubt the eyeballed adze. Dating into Neolithic it is somewhere between 5000 and 7000 years old. Two roman scrappies, a bracelet frag and a roman whatsit suprised me too. Other finds are some buttons, coins, nice complete medieval buckle, lead with a musket ball carved into a cross(?).

Nice Adz. Funny enough I was just looking at examples of Adz through time because I suspected I found an 18th Century version. Anyway, very cool find. Also like the spectacle

Nice Neolithic find:icon_thumright:

I think the Roman Whatzit is part of a staff of office, can't remember the name, but I think people like tax collectors carried them. Kind of badge of office, not 100% sure though.

Growing old should take longer but l think it has something to do with the way we wasted our time in the Early years. Hell I am still guilty of wasting time
