So I have had this thing for many many years. It has been dropped on concrete never broke as you can see in the top I tried making an ashtray out of it (teenager) with a hammer and large Flathead screwdriver that's all it did after 3hours of banging the ever living out of it... What is this rock that is purple in some views or dark blue. Could be... But I'm not finding anything that says glass or slag has color change.. This when looking at it from a different angle or light turns violet

And it's not heavy.. It's got a weight but not like solid glass weight if that makes sense

A long time ago my uncle used to work at a plastic mold plant and he would bring home things similar to that. Just big blobs of melted plastic. I have a huge one that looks like a massive amount of amber. The question is: "does the surface feel like rock (cold and hard) or does it feel more plasticy?

What you have there is a chunk of "cullet" or batch-glass used for making fancy molded glassware (fancy dishes, candlesticks, etc.) and could either be prepared raw glass ready to be melted again and used, or a chunk of what was left-over after the production run was finished and the glass furnace emptied. I'm pretty familiar with this stuff, pics related:
