Being wrinkled knocks the value down, so the value would be in the $500 range Still a great find! Congrats

I think the rarity will outweigh the circulation creases on this note. No rips, tears or writing on it. Staining/soiling appears to be at a minimum. It doesn't look limp. IMO it's a solid VF 25-30. I'd be willing to bet it gets at least a grand, if sold. It's still worth having it graded, even if not in pristine condition.

I looked at some other notes with similar serial numbers and quite a lot were $1,000 plus, the downside, is this note has some use whereas the others were in mint condition and graded.....would imagine much like coins the condition plays a big part as to how much a bill goes for.

I didn't even notice the serial number until someone mentioned it. I'm thinking it's worth $10 but I guess everything is collectable to someone. Cracks me up that someone would pay 100 times face value because the numbers on the bill.

First bill printed in 1985 for the tens.....that is cool....upwards of $1000 is my guess too.

I enjoy old crusty dirt finds - most not worth much more than the success in finding them.

That said, collecting bills isn't some new thing. I figure that the #1print from 1985 $10 would be in a collectors hand from day one. Yours was circulated and/or handled so, your best way bet is to have it authenticated and slabbed. After that, you'll have a much better idea of what it'll bring. Nice find

That's a top dollar find probably worth around $1000 could easily be worth more

That's one of those deals where there may be a buyer out there at 5 grand, but you'll have to actually find that guy.

I'd hold onto it until you find the biggest coin and currency show closest to your location this summer, or whenever...
There will be a few currency dealers who will have a bidding war for that piece.

To me it's still a NOT-Federal Reserve Note and worth it's weight in the material it's made of. However I would either put it on E-bay with a "reserve" price and see if anyone truly wants to go crazy in a bidding war for it. You could also go Dave's route and try it at a local coin-currency show. Whatever you get for it turn it into HARD assets. Not worthless debt paper created by the international banksters.

Update:

I sent the note to Heritage Auctions who estimated it would seel from $2500.00 - $5000.00. They are going to send it to be graded then put it in a Longwood CA currency auction in September where they say it should bring the most money. Will keep you all updated when I get the details of the grading and dates of the auction.

WHOA!!! That has to be WELL over $1,000 - perhaps even $10,000. I've never seen an actual serial number 1 offered before, there's a firm that specializes in these and I've seen some early numbers like 00000008 or 00000011 and even those were over $1000 (though admittedly in mint condition.)
