I've been researching the 1918 flu epidemic today for the centennial as part of my role with the local historical commission. The weather was too nice though, so I went to dig my garden and eyeballed this:

A 1918 (maybe D) wheat cent.

Pickings have been slim, so I'll take it.

Good eyeball recovery mate. 99 year old pennies are pretty cool to snatch up.:icon_thumleft:

Every time I find a good surface find I wonder if my Wife or my kids planted it to get me excited about detecting and get rid of me for the day. LOL

Not bad for coming out of your own garden. Keep looking in there, maybe someone "planted" a silver coin 100 years ago !

I had dug about a foot down to turn up some older dirt. I had planned of detecting a bit. I'm pretty sure this came up from the deep.
