It has been so hot that the wind (when it blows) feels like a hot hair drier. Well, the grass was too long at the permission so we went to the soccer field for a clad run. The Force was with Mrs. Looter as her first find was the mangled silver bracelet. The mower was rough on it but the 925 was still there, seen right beside the little square Yoda. I killed the clad and the pull tabs but she had the silver and Yoda as well as the key and the bling ring. Then the grass got cut and the hunt was on. We actually went a little too early in the evening and I got too hot but we found some things. We returned this morning and hit it harder. I cleaned out the pull rings for a bit and then got into the 50 cal brass which was about a 100 yds from where we found the dogtags etc. We ended up with 4 wheaties, 1922, 31, 37 and 42, the ground is terrible on the pennies. I found a 64 penny that the Lincoln side was perfect but the memorial side was wasted. My wife dug the cultivator blade, the ax head and the spanner wrench. She also found the broken razor handle and the cap that says Penslar (?). she also found the piece of U shaped lead (above the 50 cal brass), it was wrapped in very old electrical tape. I found the slender pocket knife and the thick round brass or bronze round piece with the hole thru it. I also found the old lipstick container that I managed to get apart. The "Slide" is very ornate, at first I thought that it might have been a Boy Scout slide, don't know for sure. I was nearly to the truck, the wife had put all of her stuff up and was drinking water when I had a hammering hard 93-94 about 20 feet from the truck. I was super hot but wasn't about to pass this up. It was a clad quarter spill and worth the stop. The button? with everybody finding these super cool buttons, I just to post one even though it still had the thread in it, LOL. So, I was told that I was very low on salt (remember they used to give us salt pills) and vitamin D deficient so I am taking both now. The low D had me very tired and the low salt had me dizzy when standing up from digging. KEEP HYDRATED ETC! Thanks for looking and be safe out there. DL

That's how its done, dig everything congrats to the both of you....:icon_thumright:

We actually dug a lot more iron and I mean a lot more. I don't know if it's the soil or what but the rusty iron came in on both machines at nearly every VDI number. I don't even bother posting the horse shoes nor oxen shoes and such. I figure sometimes the iron can be pretty cool too plus maybe masking something good.

Do either the 1922 or the 1931 wheats have a mint mark?

no, well the 22 didn't and the 31 is so toasted that I couldn't tell for sure. This dirt is horrible on the pennies or copper/brass

The thingy that resembles a scout kerchief slide looks a lot like a shoe button cover. 1920's or so I think.

The 1931 is scarce and seldom reported found on this forum. The 1922 plain is considerably rarer, and comes in three die varieties. Two of the varieties would be terrific finds. The other (variety #2) would deserve banner. Either way, congratulations.
