Back to my freshly graded road and was rewarded with another trade musket side plate....that's 2 in 4 days...so lucky. I scratched the side plate a bit...which sucks.

Freshly graded road last night.

Side plate (photoshopped to remove nick) it hurts to see it.

Flat button and musket thimble thing and another button.

The junk.

A real deep VW hub cap..which shows just how much the road is turned over by the grader.

This shows the nick/kiss/scratch...I don't even want to see it.

That flattened piece under your buttons looks like a ramrod guide off of a musket. Know how you feel about the scratch and the exposed shiny metal on that beautiful side plate. What I have done in the past to cover it up is put a small amount of sticky wax over the scratch and then scrape some old patina off of the back and press it into the wax. It sounds crazy but it covers up the mistake. I have also used the correct color of Sharpie marker to cover it. go to an art store they have virtually every color and you can find a Verdigris colored Sharpie.

Dig wide dig deep I remind myself when out in the fields or wild. It hurts to do a ding on the find after it's been laying there waiting to be saved, sadly been there done that tooo many times.
Congrats on yet another side plate, how far apart were they from each other?

Great finds! I would love to have a long road like that to detect! On a side note, I always thought Wawa was a convince store. Who knew it was actually a place in Canada?
