Due to budget and not wanting to put about $250 into an ancient machine, I went with a Garrett Ace 400. Had only 1 hour left in the day to learn how to use it and found about 53 cents (nothing exciting) and a bird tag from a Canadian Goose. Reported the tag and was issued a nice certificate for my efforts. Turns out the goose was a hatchling that was tagged in 1982. Sadly, looks like it was forcibly removed and tossed into a small pond at some point. I found it about 6 inches deep, so RIP goose. Anyway, neat find I think.

A bird tag...definitely unusual.
