I've been pretty much out of commission for over a week due to some gout issues. Really sucks, 'cause we're having some awesome fall weather. But I managed to get out and hobble around a bit today. Just headed into the woods in a very old part of town. Suspected that just maybe somebody a hundred years or more ago had also walked those woods and maybe dropped something. Bingo! My first Seated dime! And only a few minutes later, my best looking V nickle by far! I couldn't spent too much time on my feet yet, so I decided to leave while I was ahead, and save the rest for another day or two or three.

Never saw a V nickle before, that's a very nice coin. Sir, your finds are in great shape! I'd go back there asac (As Soon As I can, lol). If you managed to find these 2 beauties with a gout period, nothing will stop you when you'll be better. good luck in your next hunt!

The pair look like they are in very good shape! Don't you wish we could be as well preserved?

Amazing finds! Old coins are probably my favorite things to dig, though I haven't found any this year sadly. Your V-Nickel came out great! A couple years back I found a couple at a cellar hole abandoned around 1790/1800, those were my only ones, and they were completely toasted! The dime is killer too, Seated silver is high on my bucket list!

Congrats on a great hunt!

Awesome finds! Congrats on the seated and V! Sorry about the Gout. Best of health and luck!
Thanks! They came from a spot that had a fur trader's road going through the woods. I also found half of an oxen shoe in the same area. Both of those coins definitely post-date the fur trading era, but the ox shoe may not. No sign of a road at all there any more though.

Just about through the gout episode. It has slowed me down some, but hasn't stopped me!
