Hey all,
Was detecting my early 1900 property. I pulled this out from 6-7 inches deep by an old well.
Thought at first it was an old bell. But not so sure. I can not find any lookalikes online. Also that hole on the bottom seems like anchor point to secure it to something. Any thoughts or similar finds?

If it's open at the bottom, it might have been the top of a flag pole... may have had an eagle on top.

No its not heavy. Very thin cooper I think.
I like the flag pole thought. It does have red paint
Spots on it. Why would it not be green? Brass?

Looks to me like the sleeve that held what ever broke off the short stem to a wooden handle or pole. Flag pole has been mentioned, or could be a gardening tool.

There was one posted here a while back but, I don't recall what it was determined to be. I think it had something to do with windows that were too high to open or close by hand and would have had a ring on the end and was attached to a pole. I have no idea of a date.

That hole in the side indicates it would have been pinned onto a pole or handle of some sort, yes?

Yes on the pole question.
Here are pictures of the two suggestions (a whiffletree tip, and a transom window latch tool):

Not sure if this is the same item but it looks very close to a part of a door. My church was built in 1865 and has the original hardware on it. Here's a pic.
