Night temps are causing water temps to drop - but put on a heavier wet suit and jumped in
place was cleaned of all recent drops - guys pepper this spot after Labor day
I had to go for deep targets others missed - cranked
my sensitivity all the way up and moved slow - finally got a whisper of a target and came up with
the old gold signet ring - not far from it - hit another faint signal and I pulled a silver half down deep
started getting faint targets in one spot and was getting deep clad - then got a blast and tried
scooping target - looked down and saw odd shaped item on bottom - turned out to be a
butterfly knife - tide was coming in quick - turned and headed back and hit another spot with faint targets
pulled another half - then a silver quarter - then a silver religious medal. Got another whisper (slight fluctuation in
my background hum) and after three scoops straight down was surprised with 1956 class ring.
Was only in for about 2 hrs - I was happy :hello2:

So is the class ring from a local school? Good luck finding the owner.

Those finds show that you are one with the force.

I know that it is more involved than just getting in the water, there can be a lot of things to deal with besides finding an area to hunt that hasn't been hit hard by you or someone else. So, those are some pretty awesome finds! congrats

All that is on it is the T with small HS on emblem
I went thru all Ma. towns that start with T - no luck with finding matching mascot
will have to check RI towns next - maybe even CT. - its a womans ring so once again - if she got
married - will be a chore to find - but first things first - I got to find the school - and who's to say
the school starts with a town name?

Stellar finds Casper. I'm curious. What do you do with those half dollars? Is it caked on crude that you can get off or are they toasted?

Stellar finds Casper. I'm curious. What do you do with those half dollars? Is it caked on crude that you can get off or are they toasted?

Most times you can crack them open - usually you chick an edge and then pick at it and it will flake off little by little - others its on there like cement
some the silver is sucked out of the coin so much that you may start with a coin twice its thickness but when you get done - you end
up with something you can shave with - this area is not very old - popular in the 40s- 50s - 60s - still popular because water is clean and clear but back then
it was really big. If I hit an older spot that goes back into the 1800s - I may clean a few to see if I got seated or barber to see if I'm in a prime spot
for oldies (which means old gold too usually) but most times at those spots I will get V nickels and IH's so those will be the tell tale signs
of an old spot - you can use electrolysis - but usually a slow process - I used to do that in the winter months each year - but then I had a few years
that I found a fair amount of "cookie" coins and hated using this process only to uncover sil.Rosey's and Sil. Wash. quarters - most times I leave them
as is - I have a glass display coffee table that most of this stuff goes in - I like to show people how most of the sea silver coins come out
I have plenty that ive cleaned in there too - my guess is these 2 will either be Franklins of 1940s Walkers
