There were a zillion people at a park today. Probably my last time there for awhile, and after they left, I started going into two areas of the park. First area produced a lot of large iron, most of which I left to rust in peace. Also, a pulltab bonanza.

Was getting boring, so went across the street, then another street and started detecting again. Got GASP! more pulltabs and bottle caps, and finally some coins. The numbers on the machine were all over the mid and high tone range (I hate the screw off aluminum caps), anyway on the way out got a nice 14k gold mans' ring.

Congrats on that 14k gold man's ring, looking forward to the pics. Now it sounds like you did a lot of digging for that ring and I'm not busting your chops or anything butttttt. Happy Cat Nap? If I had found a 14k gold ring. I would still be in that same spot doing my John Travolta Saturday Night Fever Boogie Dance.... just sayin. Shovelindave, it was a VERY recent drop. About today, naps are more important than gold when you get to be an older cat. I shall proceed out to the truck to get the pulltabs so we can do a decent photo spread. Back in a couple minutes.

I'm back. Didn't take a picture of everything. Ring was almost totally under the grass. Recently lost.

Yes, this has been the year of gold. Got the silver cache earlier this year and very little silver since. Lots of Zincolns however. A couple CW pieces, odds and ends, the beach has been very productive, but I pound it and pound it and then do it again. Most days I'm the only person out there detecting, so that's probably why it's been so good this year. Less competition.

And I have a collection of choice pull tabs! Didn't mention the aluminum cans, all 20 of them. And the shredded cans, another 15 or so. The one disc with a hole in it has a number on it, probably a tag for a key.

I think the "beaver tail types" are like 40 years old now? Almost protected by antiquities laws in places.
