Finally got a permission one of the longest ones that I have done 2 hrs, asked a landowner and low be hold the chattiest guy going and after driving out of the driveway I had to chase the real landowner across a golf coarse to the 10th fareway to ask the permission to do his lands. Lol When it comes to a permission I'll dodge a few golf balls. The great thing about wasting some detecting time was I got to drive through the fields to the site instead of walking a 1/2 mile through the brush and creek. So the first site didn't have a whole lot of targets usual harmonica reeds, bits of this and that.
So I headed across the creek to a buried foundation.Landowner said it was no problem crossing the creek, that's an 8ft board, I'm not jumping something two ft deep at my age.

20 minutes later my first diggable target.1842 Half Penny Token

Next target was a nice old hand forged knife blade

Then it seemed like that was it, a dry spell and nothing good was coming up until I heard that sweet sound again, flipping the large plug out there sat what I already knew a 1857 One penny Token

I dug this very sharp brass pen quill? No dumb ass! It's a point off a hunting arrow as no writing tip could be this big could it?Then after cleaning it up I'm sticking to a pen/writing tip.

I dug a brass thin disk with a large star stamped on it and finished the hunt with a knob off a tobacco jar lid. It was hard pasture, short early summer grazing for a few head so the field had 6-8" of hay layed down with tuffs 3 ft high. There's still two more homestead sites to be looked at, and then it will be a spring return hunt when this grass is dead. Some clean up shots.

Great permission and KILLER finds! Love me a Half Penny. Got a pair of them right here where I live. My oldest US coin is a 1826 Half Cent dug right in my own yard. I also dug the same Bank of Montreal Half Penny Token coin down the road a spell. Beautiful coin. Wonderful coin hunting and relics you scored. Looks like you're on some wonderful OLD dirt!:headbang:

Nice finds. You sure that writing instrument isn't a ramrod guide?

Thanks Bonepicker

First thought when I saw it come out of the dirt, but the tip is sharp, and the hole is only about 1/4-3/8" in diameter.

Thank you Kurios

Digging tokens up here is pretty well the norm it seems from earlier sites. Lots of copper very little silver is another trend that seems happening-sadly. The folks that settled were made of the Military, Loyalists, Irish so $$$ was tight and not a lot too throw around. This site will produce more when I can get the coil 6" closer in most spots to the ground. Best of luck on your next outing.

Nice assortment Pepper. That is definitely a ramrod guide. And the large disk with the star is most likely the face of a bridle rosette without the lead backing. Of course if it were found on a Civil War site, it would certainly be associated with Texas troops :laughing7:

Awesome scores, I really like those tokens. I have only ever dug one here in Ohio from the Bank of Upper Canada.
