Was back up in Pa for a family get together and had called the owner of a farm that I had hunted a few times and was very excited to hear that some of the fields were harvested now and that I had free reign to hunt where ever I wanted! I drug the wife and the dog out with me and while they were out on a "nature walk" I was on a "treasure walk"! I concentrated mostly on the fields in front of where the house used to be and it was loaded with stuff. Alot of junk as you can imagine being that it has been in constant use since at least the early 1700's. Lots of aluminum and trash but it was worth culling out all of that stuff to get to the items I really wanted.

As has been the case at this site before, the soil and time has not been kind to the coppers. Both are really toasted but one you can tell is a Draped Bust Large Cent (you can see the bust and some of the word LIBERTY, but the date is gone) and the other is just slightly smaller and thinner but I can't find anything on it to let me know what type of large cent or colonial coin it may have been.

Same with the buttons. I dug two of them while I was there. One is broken and unmarked and the other is a slightly toasted but complete dome/blowhole button in pretty good shape! Also got a nice looking rein guide that may have come off a wagon or buggy.

There were a few rivets and buckles from what I suspect are horse tack and I did manage to get some silver, though not as old as I was hoping given the coppers, that was a really worn down Standing Liberty Quarter that is almost worn smooth from all the years in the field!

One of the thinks I find kinda cool are the "plow struck" rocks you find. Some of them have been hit so many times over hundreds of years they get some nice patters and designs on them that almost look like they were done on purpose. I think they can make nice accent pieces for displays or even just having some in the garden.

Thanks for looking and I will definitely be back later on when all of the fields are plowed and to hopefully hit a few other farms my friend tenant farms if he can get me permission! Should be fun! (Treblehunter, I owe you a call man! Wanted to link up with you when I was in town but this was a short trip with the family. The next visit will just be me the dog and the detector and we will have to link up then!)

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, either that or some kind of junk pendant or off of a dog collar.
