Visited a relative in CT recently who lives on an old farm with lots of land. The property dates back late 1700's and my relatives have lived there a very long time...I'm confident it has never been detected. Got a great signal in a field near the house and my heart nearly stopped when I saw a holed 1806 Eight Real in the hole. Only my second Spanish ever. Mexico City mint. I'm still numb.

...so is it okay if I just stalk you with the hopes that you drop it?

LOL Sure, you can try. I guess putting it on a string 200 years ago didn't work so I definitely won't be doing that!

Awesome piece of silver! I never can figure out why people would drill them upside down and make such a giant hole for a string. Especially right on the date!

Must have sounded like a garbage can lid.

You now, my mind was such a blur after I saw the coin I kind of forgot what the numbers were. I remember thinking based on the VDI that it might be a silver quarter, but it was not such a loud and different signal that I was thinking "my first silver dollar!" I sure wish I could remember the reading I got when it was still underground. It wasn't super deep...maybe 5 inches.

Thank you. I was thinking the same thing about the finds posted just in the last week or two. A $2.50 gold piece, A chain cent, an 1851 gold 10 francs coin, an Oak Tree coin, GKman's huge silver spill, and more. Wow. There is still great stuff out there! Congrats to everyone, and thanks to all for the appreciation of my 8 reales.
