    Roman/Saxon Site - BIG HAMMERED!

Nice sunny day but that meant the early morning freeze turned into a WWI trench. We predicted (hoped for) 10 scrappies today & thats what we got! The condition were so punishing Cru'dad stopped after 3.5 hours & I throw in the towel at the 4 hour point. That was plenty on my weaker knee.

    Tudor Button
    10 Roman Coins
1561 Lizzy Sixpence - Cru'dad picked it off the top.

PS. Notice the lack of the usual average finds (like buttons etc) - a sign of a site coming close to its end. (economically speaking)

Smashing good find Cru’dad. Like Anton said, an amazing plow survivor considering the size.

Only in that after 10 years of gridding the same area, over & over, the finds are so few that its not worth our effort. If we are finding less than 1 scrappy per hour then its time to move to a site that produces 10. It's purely productivity based detecting.

Does that mindset change Cru if it’s a site that’s produced a high number of rare or scarce finds or if it’s a preferred date range?
