Hi All,
The weather finally cooperated enough here in Mass to thaw the ground (somewhat) and allow me to take a road trip to a couple of parks up near Boston, where I've had some decent luck in the past. The ground was still partially frozen, as I nicked several finds trying to pry them out of the holes, and also was rewarded with a nasty blister on the palm of my digging hand.
After a couple of wheats, I dug a signal that was in the pull tab/gold range, and had a near heart attack when the chunk in the pic showed up. Alas, cleaning it up resulted in it being just a little gold plate over a copper or brass ring.
The finds started coming pretty good after that, with a 1956 Rosie being my first silver and keeper for the year- of course I gouged that one getting it out. Then, 3 Indians in a row followed- 1886, 1896 & 1899, and finally a 2-coin spill- a bent 19x9 wheat penny and the no-date Buffalo. Finished the day with the pictured finds and 14 wheats, oldest being 1911.
All in all, a very successful beginning to the season. Enjoy the pics and HH!
