A friend of mine and I have been scouting for cellar holes over the past couple of months. In total, we found over 10 so far. Unfortunately he is away for work, but told me I could hit one of them as a test to see what's there. Within minutes, I had dug a Victorian suspender buckle. A minute and about 6' later, I got a weird 11-28/11-34 on the Etrac. Out pops a 1908 LC. stood up, swung again and it had a friend! I walked a straight line from the corner of the cellar hole, down a slight grade; a distance of maybe 60', then just a short turn to get back to the truck. In that time, I dug the first 2 coins, an 1820 NS & NB SUCCESS to navigation token, 2 KG II's, an early KG II Hibernia, and an Un Sou. There are still alot of signals in the ground, but I left them so my friend can join me when he gets back. We will revisit the spot then, and hopefully show you some Spanish silver lol.

Haha thanks guys. I went over alot more ground and had many more coin signals, but out of respect for my buddy, I didn't dig them. I'll point them out to him when we get there again. He deserves to have a colonial smile too :)

Thanks everyone. I haven't stopped thinking about it lol. I got another, (at least 7 ) solid coin tones all ranging from 11-33 to 11-44 that I didn't dig. I haven't even covered 20% of the site! For those who hunt cellar holes, you may have come across this scenario.. .I've noticed it many times; if you notice a depression in the ground close to a road or laneway, but you find a beautiful cellar hole in behind it somewhere, focus on the depression area first. Many times, the original homestead was close to the old road. When the original home becomes delapitated, they build a newer one in behind it. That's the case with this site. There is a cellar close to the road but it looks small and not very impressive. Behind it, in a clearing in the woods, is a beautiful foundation that just begs you to spend your hole day around. Don't do it! Go to the small shitty one. It will be much older! Also, after 1880, people had much more money and in turn, much more garbage. Cans, foil, bottle caps etc litter these gorgeous cellars. Once the original site has been well scoured, then move on to the later Victorian site. Your display will thank you

So it looks like an amazing bunch of finds, but I have a serious question.

What does a 1908 large cent look like?

LOL it was early in the morning and I didn't realize you were in Canada! That is my story and I am sticking to it. I thought you made a typing error. I find those in Michigan and the last one I found was in the Detroit river. Love your large cents.

Thanks for the picture.
