An other rare colonial patriotic button. Some silver and militaria.

While on the hunt for the new detecting spots, decided to revisit some of my last years hunting grounds. The weather is just perfect, not too cold or too hot. The nature is waking up, so I have to act fast before the farmers get out their equipment. Wasn't disappointed with the results as I managed to save the second example that I know of from the Patriotic buttons section in Albert's book. It's my second ''I Axe My Way'' button with the first being found last fall. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/today-s-finds/555480-colonial-patriotic-button-some-18th-century-copper-coins-relics.htmlThis type still puzzles me as I can't find any other example of it other than in my collection and the book.

I might have made a mistake last year thinking it was pewter as my previous example was a bit brittle on the sides. This one is much more solid, with the original shank still attached.
And here they are side by side.

Super happy with this find. They look great together.

Other than that beauty, the week end hasn't brought anything really exceptional. Some good finds were a few British military buttons.
A partial enlisted men War of 1812 (60th Regiment of foot)

A general service button from mid 1800's

A grape shot (really like finding those)

What looks to be a colonial copper ring. Same size as a large wedding band.

A silver 1874 Canadian 5 cents

And the ''I don't have any idea'' item. The top looks silver, it's heavy and hand engraved. Not sure what it was used for.

Thanks for the comments.

Some real nice finds. Love the buttons, I’m also looking at a nickel that I’ve never seen before. That silver looks to me that it may be a vintage snap on lid for an expensive bottle of perfume. Just a guess. Thanks for sharing and congrats!

The silver plated item could be part of a fob watch seal.

I always wanted to dig one of those buttons, after seeing it in my button book years ago. This is the first I've seen dug, so it has to be super-rare.

Finding two of those buttons is a mighty rare feat.
Hopefully someone could share more info on that button.

Yes. Really cool to find the second one. Strangely, this find was my bucket lister as for many months now I was looking for somebody who has the same type of button in their collection. Well now I guess that person is...me. I really feel privileged to have both of them.

Thanks Hawks. The fishscale actually cleaned up pretty well. 20180425_084037.jpg 20180425_084058.jpg
