1944 steel penny?

Found this in a hole I dug yesterday with a 1939 wheaty. Very heavily corroded. Same size as a penny and can make out a lip around the edge. Did the magnet test.

I agree it's probably a 1943, I've dug 2 rusty steel pennies and the only reason I could come to the conclusion that they were steel pennies is that both were in wheat penny spills.

Great Find! I found one a year ago or so and was baffled it survived longer than the Zinc pennies do within months lol

That's funny, I think I found one yesterday too. I did find about 5 Wheats very close by.
